With the theme Explore The New Insights of Hepatobiliary Surgery, dr. Avit Suchitra, SpB, Subsp. BD (K) as chairman of IKABDI said that Laparoscopy has revolutionized hepatobiliary surgery as well, enabling simple procedures such as cholecystectomy and bile duct exploration to difficult procedures such as Whipple’s procedure, liver resections, and liver transplantation with reduced postoperative complications.
Finally, endoscopy including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and advanced techniques like endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) plays a crucial role in both diagnosis and therapy, facilitating interventions such as stone removal, stent placement, tumor biopsy and staging.
